Messy act 03/14/2009

I'm not your usual neat freak and organized girl, there are times that my room looks like a whirlpool and everything is out of place. Though anyone at home don't care about my room, I'm the usual victim of it's irritating look even if I'm the suspect. I only got Sunday to clean my whole room, and often ended up only sweeping the floor, leaving the doors of my closer a barrier from the messy world inside.

This is what i learned from my own experience. One of the key to have a organized place is to have the habit of returning the things from where you get it. I usually just throw anything anywhere. Library etiquette huh? When you're away from your room, or a place where that stuff is placed, bother to walk to that area and place it. Somehow you can still manage to keep everything less messy.

It's just a matter of containers. When you have a little trinkets, loose papers, and any clutter, get some containers that will add a decorative feel in your room. I have colorful boxes and baskets to keep all of my small and easy to be a clutter things. For some filed papers, get a folder, clear book, or a paper holder/filer to store it. Grab a mug or a glass to hold some long slender stuffs like pens, use a bath towel rack for necklaces and belts, and use and old windscreen for earrings. Creativity needs to flow!

Get rid of what is not needed/used. I don't have a lot of dress from my closet, but i still gave away my old clothes and some clothes that doesn't fit anymore or sell them. I wanted to give my closet a spacey feel so that not all things are compressed and builded up. I also went to some old papers to throw some that are not important. The fun thing about these papers are you can find some notes from friends spreading out rumors or just a not from a secret admirer. You can also choose the option to keep these notes to file them as a scrapbook.

One's mess is also one's decorative piece. I'm referring to those books lying around, or those board games or anything bulky. Store your books vertically like in a library inside a closet and your favorite ones at the top. Grab a book holder (the one that stops the book from falling on the sides) and place it it the ends. Display board games on shelves to show them to friends for some quick game when having a sleepover.

All it takes is creativity from turning a dull cleaning to something fun to see and the willingness to give you room you look. The saddest thing is, I'll be cleaning and organizing my room tomorrow then work.
